1. Dairy Products

Dairy products contain a large amount of calcium which helps us sleep and eating food rich in carbohydrates along with dairy products can be more sleep inducing as carbohydrates help in enhancing the effect of tryptophan present in the dairy products.
Walnuts have a source of large content of melatonin. Eating walnuts help increase the level of melatonin hormone in your blood which makes you sleepy in no time.
Almonds have a higher level of tryptophan than walnuts do. Tryptophan is an amino acid the releases the sleep hormone- melatonin. Almonds are also rich in Magnesium which relaxes your muscles and helps you sleep.
Banana is very rich in potassium, magnesium and sugar. These elements help in making the brain absorb tryptophan fast and hence quickens the process of falling asleep.
Cherries especially tart cherries are rich in Melatonin content. So, eating of handful cherries or even better- consuming them in the form of juice can help you a lot with your sleep troubles.
6. Pumpkin Seeds
These are very rich in zinc and magnesium. They help in relaxing your body muscles and induces drowsiness within minutes.
7. Chamomile Tea
Are you a chai lover? I am sure there are many days when you wanted to have a cup of tea late in the evening but you did not because you did not want to stay awake all night. Here’s a solution to your problem. This magical tea contains glycine which relaxes your nervous system. Glycine is an amino acid which is known it has a mild sedative effect, so do not have this tea when you have work that you need to focus on. If you want to sleep, this is your go-to thing.
8. Oily Fish
Fish rich in oil contain acids which have a high content of melatonin. Add a Salmon, tuna or any other oily fish in your meal and you can’t help yourself but sleep.
9. White Rice
Anyone who has rice as a part of their meal like me can assure you that the drowsiness caused by this food right here is irresistible. It takes 3 to 4 hours to get the best sleep ever after you have a meal filled with white rice.
