It is because when we exercise we use energy from carbohydrates while if we don’t consume carbs, the energy will be used by fats stored in our body and this process leads to weight loss. It is extremely wrong to blame carbohydrates for weight gain. Carbohydrates are important for the functioning of the body. The problem is not with carbohydrates but with the kind of diets we choose which are predominantly based. We are not consuming enough proteins while we are eating more carbohydrates that our body requires. Balance diet and exercise both are very important to be healthy in life.

How Much Carbohydrates Is Enough?

Studies suggest that an adult gets 50-60% of energy from carbohydrates, about 25% of energy from proteins and the remaining from fats. The body can also work ok High Protein Low Carb Diet where the protein intake should not go beyond 40%. Eliminating any group of food is not a solution. Going on low carbohydrate diet is alright if you’re planning for weight loss.

It must be understood that the diet we consume is any way around 70-80% carbohydrates, ideally, we should bring this number down to 50% and keeping it that way. A number of calories that we need for our body can easily be derived by multiplying your weight by 24, now take that figure and calculate 50% of it to arrive at a number of calories you need to derive via carbs. Apparently, 1gm of carbohydrates will give you 4 calories.

Also, the dieticians never ask anyone to go drastically low on carbohydrates, according to them the body won’t survive if they’re cut heavily on carbohydrates or as said their main source of energy. Going low on carbohydrates should always mean that you increase your protein intake; in any case, you must not decrease the ratio of carbs in your diet below 40% of the food you consume every day.
