Straw in mocktail

Adding a perky, bright straw to your drink has always been appealing since it is widely seen to make the drink even more attractive. You may also find drinking through the straw more convenient and mess free compared to bringing the glass to your lips and drinking. But, unknown to many, these straws are harmful, and it would be highly beneficial for you to do away with them. Here are a few reasons why.

Wrinkles on the way

Okay, it is mainly the ads that got us worrying about laugh lines and crow’s feet that may develop on our faces in a few years. Even though they look quite charming on some people, most of us fear wrinkles coming anywhere near our bodies. Well, the sucking action that we do upon the straws has been seen to increase the chances of developing wrinkles around your lips. They may not appear on your skin immediately, but, by the time you are fifty, you might regret the many straws that had come in between your mouth and your drink.

They can’t be recycled

Most of the straws are non-recyclable, and you can just imagine the sheer number of straws that are disposed of every day. If you can’t live without it, use the ones made from steel or maybe, which will last longer.

The animals!

Like most other plastic stuff, straws are also harmful to animals and are often consumed by them. Many aquatic beings have been found with stomachs filled with straws, and you wouldn’t want to be doing that to them, do you?

Oh, that gas!

When compared to drinking straight from the gas, more air bubbles are produced when you drink through a straw. This could result in making you feel all bloated, giving out burps.

They are not doing anything good for your teeth

Many drink using straws believing that they help prevent staining and decay of your teeth. But this is possible only if you insert the straw way back into your mouth near your throat. So, it is pointless to drink from straws believing that they are beneficial to your dental health.
