We have all, at some point, sat our friends down and held a torch towards our face in the dark to let them on to a horror story. We know the woman in white who walks the street past midnight, but there are some places around you that have accounts of people have had some terrifying experiences. These are definitely not for the weak-hearted. We bring you the 7 most haunted places in Mumbai.
1. AAREY MILK COLONY
The experience can be defined as driving into a dark pit. Many people who went driving there at night gave their chilling accounts. A woman in saree carrying a child stands there requesting for a lift; then disappears into thin air. She also chases cars if they do not stop. It is recommended to not go to the colony at night.
2. 8TH FLOOR, GRAND PARADI TOWERS
We have all heard stories where reside ghosts in particular flats, but in this one, a couple committed suicide for reasons not known, following them, many families committed suicide and so did a maid. No one knows what pushed them to follow the ordeal, literally.
3. VRINDAVAN SOCIETY, THANE
Now this one is a rather active spirit as he goes around slapping people. A resident of the building committed suicide following the consistent hitting by the ghost. The security guards too have reported being slapped while sleeping or listening to whispers in their ear while awake.
4. MUKESH MILLS, COLABA
The mills were burnt down in a mishap in 1870. Since then, the location has been used for various movie shoots, but the cast and crew have been subject to really spooky accidents leading to quicker pack-ups during the filming of the movie.
5. NASSERWANJ WADI, MAHIM
Near the station roams the spirit of the murdered owner. He was burnt down and then threw him near a well. This is said to be no joke since the said ghost has claimed seven lives already.
6. ST. JOHN’S BAPTIST CHURCH, ANDHERI
This is an incident of an exorcism gone various ways. A young bride was murdered in the church, and after many instances of hearing voices, the people in the village arranged for a priest to drive her spirit away. When the priest began the exorcism, the spirit started laughing maniacally then began to sob heavily. There was silence for a while; then the villagers heard a loud splash in the lake nearby. The next day, all the fish in the pond were dead. Though no incidents have been reported since then, nobody ever goes to the church or the lake.
7. BOMBAY HIGH COURT
If only we could decide whether this was unlawful! A certain courtroom in the Bombay High Court is home to a bilingual ghost who yells curses and causes a chaos during proceedings. He has been known to act as a nuisance especially during murder trials.
If these do not make the hair on your neck rise, I do not know what will. It would be recommended to steer clear of these spooky areas to stay out of danger no matter what.
