To Soak Or Not To Soak

To soak or not to soak?

The power packed mini bites, or nuts, are popular favorites of all those who believe in healthy diets. It might be your preference to munch on them as they come, but soaking them in water for a while is the safer way to go. Don’t worry; there are scientific reasons to support this advice.

Nuts and seeds contain some amounts of phytic acid which are enzyme inhibitors and whose primary role is to protect the seeds till germination. But the presence of phytic acid prevents the digestion of these seeds in the human system. Soaking them helps get rid of this acid and also the dust and dirt present. Do remind yourself not to reuse the water that was used for soaking as it may contain substances that may adversely affect your health.
