A lot of us blame some foods, most often labeled as ‘Junk’ food, for our issues of increasing body weight, cholesterol, and other health issues. Yet, we consume them since most of them have become a part of our everyday meal. How would you feel to know that not all those stuff is unhealthy, but actually some of them are good for your health?
Here is a list of the food often labeled as ‘Junk’ and unhealthy and as a matter of fact are not so:
Chocolates are often associated with foods are high in fat and sugar. But chocolates are made of cocoa which has a high content of polyphenols and minerals. Green tea and Red wine are often referred to as substances good for a healthy heart as they contain flavanols. These flavanols are also present in cocoa. Chocolates are also good for people with high blood pressure as it reduces the probability of them suffering a heart attack by 20% over 5 years. Besides, a definite link has never been established between consuming chocolates and weight gain.
We often tend to order a beverage along with the food we eat. But the voice in our head immediately tells us that it just adds to our already unhealthy meal. Time to make that voice stop. Milkshake is made of skimmed milk which is very nutritious and rich in calcium and Vitamin B12. These two are very important supplements to our body. And the seasonal fruits used to make a milkshake are very good for our health.
Don’t be so surprised to see this on the list. Not all kinds of Pizzas are unhealthy and junk. A thin crust Pizza embellished with vegetable toppings with less amount of cheese can be a valuable addition to your diet. Tomato sauce used in making a Pizza contains a cancer-fighting chemical called lycopene and Vitamins A&D. The cheese contains calcium and the vegetables provide fibre to the body.

This is another healthy eatable thought of containing a high content of cholesterol which causes heart troubles. But the egg yolk is rich in proteins and consists of nutrients like Zinc, iron and vitamins A & D. The amount of cholesterol in a single egg is within the limit of cholesterol that you can consume in a day. So adding an egg to the diet can be beneficial to our health.
A study conducted by Harvard University showed that an average of two drinks a day lowers the risk of suffering a heart attack than consuming more alcohol at one but less often.
The university of Buffalo published a study which said men who drink more than four drinks at a time twice or thrice a week have more abdominal fat than men who consume two drinks every day.
Cheese is considered to be rich in calorie and fats and hence unhealthy. But including moderate amounts of cheese in your diet can do you a lot of good as the new types of cheese available in the market like cheddar and others are rich in zinc, vitamin A, calcium folate and other nutrients.
7. Baked Beans
We are often told to stay as far away as possible from Tinned foods. But Baked beans is one such tinned food which is a rich source of proteins and fibre. It also contains potassium, iron, and calcium. Baked beans go perfectly well with a toast which is rich in amino acids and this makes for a healthy breakfast.
8. Fish and Chips
These are considered to be unhealthy as they are full of vinegar and salt. But they contain Vitamin C, B6 & B12, Zinc, Calcium, Iodine, Iron and Omega-3 fatty acid. Moderate amounts of these can be added to your diet to remain healthy.
